Update

Haven't been updating in forever!! Need to step my game up.

Just wanted to post a quick blog in tribute to 9/11/2001.
It's crazy how well I can remember that day 10 years ago, in 8th grade, sitting in math class in absolute disbelief.

This one is dedicated to those in the towers who were expecting a normal day at work, those that did the unthinkable and rushed up the stairs instead of down to save others, and of course the many police officers and firefighters who ran into the burning, collapsing buildings and sacrificed their safety and in some cases their lives for others. It's truly amazing how these heroes could risk so much for people they didn't even know, and should encourage us to do the same in our everyday lives.

Sustainable UA

Did you know that the University of Arizona is a leading school in sustainability?

The school uses the desert environment to their advantage and has been installing solar-powered, energy efficient products around campus over the past few years. Along with that, they use particular architecture that enhances natural light during some hours and shades during others, all while using materials to keep the buildings cool.

4th of July >>> SAN DIEGO!!!

I got this weekend off of work and have decided to migrate to San Diego for the 3rd year in a row, for 4th of July weekend!! I cannot wait to be on the sandy shores of San Diego, drinking lots of beer and taking countless shots, with randoms in their beach mansions..... At least that's how the last two years went.

Plans for this weekend include a visit to Wavehouse on Sunday Funday for a Dirty South performance, possibly a spontaneous Disneyland trip, and lots of BFF bonding time with my Meeleeree (mallory duh)!! woohooo!!!

I love my SD peeeeeps!

Leave a Comment if you will be in SD for the weekend and lets meet up!

The Dirty Dog

Back to my obsession with dog posts... So I've posted a few pictures of my former roommate, Alexa's baby, Oscar. He is a dachshund (Wiener dog) and absolutely adorable.

Here are some of my favorite shots I got of the little monster while we lived together at the Pool House.

Multimedia Project

Here is a video that I shot and cut together for my Journalism Multimedia class.

The assignment was all about different camera angles, combined with natural sound and voice-overs.

Super simple slow-cooker recipe

My mom bought me a slow-cooker last year and I've been using it like crazy ever since. It's so easy to throw a bunch of ingredients into the pot and come home to a delicious meal 6 hours later. Here is my favorite crock pot recipe, just like Grandma used to make me.... Enjoy!

Classic Chicken and Dumplings

Ingredients:
(Enough for 4 servings)
- 2 Boneless, skinless chicken breasts. Throw them in whole. They can be either fresh or frozen.
- 1 tablespoon of butter
- 1 (10.75 oz) can condensed cream of chicken soup. (I've used cream of mushroom soup as well and its delicious)
- 1/2 onion, finely diced
- 1 (10 oz) package refrigerated biscuit dough, torn into pieces
- Some water

Put all your ingredients into the crock pot (Except for biscuits!!!!), and then fill with enough water to cover everything.

Cook for 5 to 6 hrs on high. 30 minutes before serving your meal, tear up the biscuit dough and throw it in. You can leave the torn pieces rustic or roll them into a ball. Pieces will double or triple in size so don't make them too big (even though the dumplings are the best part). You can also cut up the cooked chicken or shred it with two forks at this time.

I loveeeeee this recipe and will be making it for my kids and their kids one day! Keep this simple recipe and share it with your family as well. Its so easy and you'll be getting compliments for years to come.

Easy Tissue Paper Flowers

Oops.. I've been slacking on my posts, so this week to make up for it I decided to post a fun and easy craft idea. My grandma surprised me with a little gift in the mail and wrapped it all up in pink sparkly/glitter tissue paper (she knows me too well), and there was enough of it that I decided to make fun tissue paper flowers that I'll be putting around my house.

Step:
1. Buy tissue paper in any color and stack anywhere from 5-15 sheets of tissue paper. (I used 10, but use more if you want a full circle to hang)

2. cut the paper in half. (you'll get more out of your tissue paper and they're still pretty decent sized)

3. start to fold the paper, which is still stacked, back and forth about an inch or two- clearly it does not have to be specific or even too pretty at this point.

4 when you are done folding, you should have a fan. fold it in half and tie off with string (or floss)

5. at this point you can choose to cut the ends, either round or pointed (as I do later), or leave as is.

6. start to pull apart the layers and fluff them together to hide any open seams.

7. shape to half-circle to place on table or keep fluffing into a round shape and hang.

alternative step 5. cute both ends to a point to create a lotus effect.

end result:

So try this one out for yourself and send me pics of what you create! I'll definitely be doing this craft again, next time I'm going to experiment with different tissue colors and size as well (pics to come)

A great picture of my Gma and Papa at their house in Auburn!!

My Grandparents have always been like second parents to me, so I'm really missing them today and thinking about them constantly.

THank you two so much for everything in my life! I hope to see you very soon <3

Oh and did I mention she's 70?! But shhhh she doesn't want anyone to know, and for good reason- cuz she def doesn't look her age!!

The Sammy Hagar Experience

Me and two friends, Michelle and Adriana, got to be Sammy Hagar's "waitresses" onstage last night at his concert in Tucson! it was such a fun experience- they had a bar setup onstage and we were serving Sammy, his crew, audience members, (and ourselves) drinks all concert long.

Our passes for the show.

Anxiously waiting to meet Sammy Hagar the rockstar!!

In sammy's dressing room, seconds before the show.

Sammy and the wabos were so fun and so nice!! That's us with Sammy and his drummer. These guys love their tequila :)

Our tiki bar onstage!! *Margaritaville*

I had such a blast with you girls!!

Our view of the concert - amazing!!!
"I can't drive 55"

What a fun night! We were truly part of the show and even got to take a final bow with Sammy. Too cool, only thing that could have made it better would have been my parents (the real Sammy Hagar fans) standing in the front row.

Once again, let me just say, I love my job! :)

The good days :)

My crazy baby

If you know me at all, you know how in love I am with my dogs. Maddie (my German shepherd) is my baby, but Dora (our black lab) came into my life about 4 years ago and now it's like picking between children.

Dora works with my dad as a bomb-sniffing dog and is great at what she does, actually she is one of the top dogs in Sacramento!

She's not a serious K9 tho, shes so sweet, loving and playful.. Her and my dad have become bffs since we got her.

Here is an absolutely hilarious (and also kind of terrifying) pic of our "angel"

Hehe miss you, fam!! <3

Leopard print eye makeup

Here's a fun makeup idea. Leopard print is so fun and virtually impossible to mess up!!

I did this leopard print eye makeup one night before a date dash. I just picked my colors and went for it.

basically just do a light base coat and fill in the crease lightly with a darker color like gray or black. Then pick a vibrant bright color (I chose aqua) and put different sized spots all over. Then use black eyeliner to outline the bright spots with two "C"-shaped marks.

Try it this weekend and send me a picture like my friend Mallory!! She did hers a little different than mine and it turned out perfect!

Show me your creativity!
